Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes: Removal

- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Center the steering wheel.
- Remove the air deflector. Refer to AIR DEFLECTOR (G1569045) information.
- Remove the splash shield.
- Detach the transmission fluid cooler tubes.
- Detach the wiring harness.
- Detach the hose.
- Make sure the alignment mark, on the steering gear pinion seal protection cover, is central to the steering gear pinion casting.
- Detach the lower steering column.
- Detach the steering gear.
- Secure the steering gear.
- Remove the retaining nut.
- Remove the left-hand catalytic converter heat shield.
- Remove the left-hand catalytic converter heat shield retaining bracket.
- Remove the retaining bracket.
- Remove the left-hand engine mounting retaining nut.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER - V8 S/C 5.0L PETROL (G1090386) information.
- Install the special tool.
- Using the special tools, raise the engine to a suitable height.
- Release the bracket.
- Release the transmission fluid cooler tubes bracket.
- Detach the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the retaining bracket.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes.
WARNING:
Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
CAUTION:
Make sure that all openings are sealed. Use new blanking caps.
