Drive Pinion Seal (G1275997): Removal

- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

- Drain the rear differential oil.

- Remove the driveshaft.

Refer to: REAR DRIVESHAFT - AWD (G1578768) (Removal and Installation).
Measure the depth of the differential pinion nut on the differential pinion shaft.
Scribe a line to mark the differential pinion shaft to the differential pinion flange nut and the differential pinion flange.
Remove the differential pinion shaft nut.
Special Tool(s): 205-053, 205-053-03
Inspect and assemble the special tool.

Install the special tool.

Using the special tool, remove the differential pinion flange.
Special Tool(s): 204-269A
Remove the special tools from the differential pinion flange.
Install the special tool to the differential pinion seal as shown.
Special Tool(s): JLR-205-1031
Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): 100-012-01
Using the special tools, remove and discard the differential pinion seal.
Special Tool(s): 100-012

CAUTION: Take extra care not to contaminate the differential pinion shaft tail bearing.
Make sure the differential pinion shaft splines and threads are clean and free of Loctite.
Make sure the differential pinion flange splines are clean and free of Loctite.
