Inner Constant Velocity (CV) Joint Boot - AWD (G1578772): Removal

CAUTION: The final tightening of the suspension components must be carried out with the vehicle on its wheels.
NOTE:
  • Left Hand illustration shown, Right Hand is similar.
  • Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
  1. Raise and lower the vehicle on a 4 post ramp.
  2. WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.

  3. Remove the rear halfshaft.

  4. NOTE: Discard the retaining clips.

  6. CAUTION:
    • Use suitable protective covers to protect the halfshaft.
    • Make sure that the CV joint is positioned as illustrated.

    Equipment: Vise 

  7. CAUTION: Using a suitable soft drift, strike the joint in the area indicated to release it from the shaft.
    NOTE: Clean the constant velocity (CV) joint, removing as much of the old grease as possible.

    Remove and discard the circlip.

  9. NOTE: Clean all the mating faces and reusable parts thoroughly and check for damage.

    Remove the inner CV joint boot.
