Issues With Convertible Top Slamming On Closure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 12 other vehicles, including the 2015 Jaguar XKR-S, 2015 Jaguar XKR, 2015 Jaguar XK, 2014 Jaguar XKR-S, and 2014 Jaguar XKR. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If any of the service actions below are applied any adjustments to the convertible top mechanism should be recorded in the vehicle build manual

When activated, the convertible top is designed to deploy with a smooth and gentle action. The following service guidelines are intended to help alleviate a poorly adjusted convertible top that is meeting the front header with too much force/noise (slamming) as it is being deployed. There are two potential slam conditions:

  1. Slam Condition 1 - convertible top closes with a slight noise/slam
  2. Slam Condition 2 - convertible top closes with a heavy noise/slam

Consult the appropriate sections below for service actions for either of the above slam conditions
