Principles Of Operation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 12 other vehicles, including the 2015 Jaguar XKR-S, 2015 Jaguar XKR, 2015 Jaguar XK, 2014 Jaguar XKR-S, and 2014 Jaguar XKR. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Engine crank requests are monitored by the passive anti-theft system and, if valid, passed on to the ECM (engine control module). For additional information, refer to Anti-Theft - Passive

When the ECM receives a crank request, it energizes the starter relay in the power distribution box. The energized starter relay supplies power from the CJB (central junction box) to energize the starter solenoid. The energized solenoid then connects the power feed from the battery to the starter motor via the positive remote charge terminal.
