Hoses And Fluid Cooler: Hoses

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 12 other vehicles, including the 2015 Jaguar XKR-S, 2015 Jaguar XKR, 2015 Jaguar XK, 2014 Jaguar XKR-S, and 2014 Jaguar XKR. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

A mixture of metal pipes and rubber hoses are used in the power steering system. The high pressure pipe from the pump and the return pipe to the cooler from the steering gear are attached to one mounting plate. The pipe connections are sealed with O-ring seals and the plate is secured with a bolt screwed into the steering gear.

The pump high pressure pipe is attached to the pump with a special elbow, banjo bolt and washers.

A restrictor is installed in the return line from the fluid cooler to the reservoir. The restrictor optimizes power steering system performance in terms of hydraulic NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) (water-hammer, grunt, shudder etc.) and vehicle dynamics (steering feel/damping).
