Description And Operation: Introduction

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 12 other vehicles, including the 2015 Jaguar XKR-S, 2015 Jaguar XKR, 2015 Jaguar XK, 2014 Jaguar XKR-S, and 2014 Jaguar XKR. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The rear drive halfshafts are of unequal length and both inner and outer joints are of the CV (constant velocity) type, with plunging inboard and fixed outboard capability allowing for suspension movement.

Dust shields are installed on the inner CV joints to protect the connections with the differential.

The inner and outer CV joints are linked by a solid bar halfshaft. The outer CV joint is a spline interferance-fit into the wheel hub. The inner CV joint is of a spline slide-fit arrangement and is retained in the differential with the aid of a spring clip.
