Seat heating and cooling is provided by climate modules in the cushion and the backrest of the seat. Operation of the climate modules in both front seats is controlled by a climate seat control module attached to the front of the instrument panel cross-car beam, on the driver side.
The climate modules contain Peltier cells, which heat up or cool down depending on the voltage provided by the climate seat control module. Each climate module also contains a blower, controlled by the climate seat control module, which blows air over the Peltier cell and into a liner in the related cushion or backrest. The heated or cooled air then flows out of holes in the liner, and through the seat pad and seat cover.
The climate seat control module uses temperature sensors in the backrest and the cushion climate modules to regulate the seat temperature.
