Removal And Installation: Removal

WARNING:
  • Do not use compressed air to clean brake components. Dust from friction materials can be harmful if inhaled.
  • Brake pads must be renewed in axle sets only. Failure to follow

    this instruction may result in braking efficiency being impaired.

CAUTION:
  • The parking brake caliper retaining bolts are installed in two left hand thread inserts on the mounting bracket which may loosen and unscrew if the retaining bolts are removed and cause damage to the brake disc, the inserts and the mounting bracket. Therefore it is essential that the following procedure is adhered too.
  • Take care not to contaminate the brake pad friction materials or the brake discs.

NOTE:
  • Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  • Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
  1. Refer to: Parking Brake Cable Tension Release  (General Procedures).
  2. WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.

    Remove 2 opposing wheel nuts.

    Torque: 125 Nm

    Install the wheel guide tools. (Located in the vehicle tool kit.)

    Torque: 20 Nm 

  5. CAUTION: The brake disc can be easily damaged. Take extra care when removing and installing the wheel.

    Remove the remaining wheel nuts and slide the wheel and tire over the guide tools.

    Torque: 125 Nm 

  6. CAUTION:
    • Discard the bolts.
    • Do not allow the caliper to hang on the brake hose.

    Torque: 110 Nm 

  7. CAUTION: Discard the clip.

  8. NOTE: Note the orientation of the anti-rattle spring prior to removal.

  11. CAUTION: The brake disc can be easily damaged. Do not strike or lever on the brake disc.
