Removal And Installation: Removal

WARNING: Do not use compressed air to clean brake components. Dust from friction materials can be harmful if inhaled.
CAUTION:
  • The parking brake caliper retaining bolts are installed in two left hand thread inserts on the mounting bracket which may loosen and unscrew if the retaining bolts are removed and cause damage to the brake disc, the inserts and the mounting bracket. Therefore it is essential that the following procedure is adhered too.
  • Take care not to contaminate the brake pad friction materials or the brake discs.

    Accurately scribe a lines to mark the caliper retaining bolt inserts to the caliper mounting bracket.

    Torque: 40 Nm

    Torque: 70 Nm

    NOTE: Carry out the next step only if the inserts have loosened.

    Check the alignment to see if the inserts have loosened.

  7. CAUTION: The inserts are left hand thread.

Remove the inserts and check for damage to the threads on the inserts and the mounting bracket and replace if necessary.
