Seat Belts

The seat belt warning lamp will illuminate when the ignition is switched on and:

The driver's seat belt is not fastened.
The passenger seat is occupied and the seat belt is not fastened.
Check that with the driver's seat belt unfastened and fastened, the seat belt warning lamp illuminates and is then extinguished. Repeat the check for the passenger seat belt while sitting in the passenger seat.

NOTE:

In some countries a 'Beltminder' supplemental feature is installed. If the vehicle is moving above 16 km/h (10 mph) with one or both front seats occupied and a seat belt is not fastened, a warning chime will sound and the seat belt warning lamp will flash.
In Federal markets the 'Beltminder' feature will ignore the occupied passenger seat and only monitor the driver seat for a period of less than 75 seconds. Only after the preset monitoring time has lapsed will the seat belt warning lamp illuminate to indicate that the passenger seat belt is not fastened.
