Battery Isolation Transit Relay
A transit relay is connected to the battery to reduce voltage loss and prevent the battery becoming discharged. This allows the vehicle to be driven when necessary, but isolates the battery from the vehicle during transit and storage.
The transit relay is connected between the battery positive post and the battery positive lead. When the ignition is switched off, the transit relay isolates the positive side of the battery. When the ignition is switched on, a signal is applied via the auxiliary connector to close the positive side of the battery circuit.
Do not leave the ignition switched on for extended periods.
The PDI checks specified in this document MUST be carried out with the transit relay removed (refer to 'PREPARATION - BATTERY TRANSIT RELAY REMOVAL AND BATTERY RE-CONNECTION '), and the ignition switched on for limited periods (where applicable).
