Parking Brake Control: Removal

WARNING: BRAKE DUST, IF INHALED CAN DAMAGE YOUR HEALTH. ALWAYS REMOVE BRAKE DUST USING A VACUUM BRUSH. DO NOT USE A COMPRESSED-AIR LINE TO DISPERSE BRAKE DUST INTO THE ATMOSPHERE.

CAUTION: Replacement of nuts and bolts: Various thread-locking devices are used on nuts and bolts throughout the vehicle. These devices restrict the number of times a nut or bolt can be used. See GENERAL INFORMATION for further information.

Position vehicle on a four-post lift.
Release parking brake.
Release tension on parking brake cable.
- Slacken but do not remove adjustment nut.

Release parking brake cable.
- Remove clip.
- Remove clevis pin.

Remove driver seat for access. Refer to FRONT SEAT .
Remove trim from hand lever. Refer to PARKING BRAKE CONTROL SHROUD .
Carefully reposition carpet from around hand lever for access.
Disconnect parking-brake, warning-light switch connector.

Remove hand lever from vehicle.
- Remove bolts.
- Remove lever.

Remove gasket.

Remove warning-light switch from lever.
- Remove screws.
- Remove switch.
