Description and Operation: Notes

The hydraulic brake system is split in to two independent circuits: the primary circuit operates the front brakes and the secondary circuit operates the rear brakes. This type of system prevents complete brake failure in the event of a brake tube fracture.

The hydraulic brake system consists of the following components:

1 Pedal Housing / Booster - refer to POWER BRAKE ACTUATION .
2 Vacuum Hose - refer to POWER BRAKE ACTUATION .
3 Master Cylinder / Reservoir.
4 Primary Brake Circuit.
5 Secondary Brake Circuit.
6 Hydraulic Pump / Motor Unit - refer to ANTI-LOCK CONTROL .
7 ABS/Traction Control Module (ABS/TCCM) - refer to ANTI-LOCK CONTROL .
8 Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) - refer to ANTI-LOCK CONTROL .
6/7/8 Brake Control Modulator.
9 Brake Disc - refer to DISC .
10 Brake Caliper - refer to DISC .
11 Wheel Speed Sensor - refer to ANTI-LOCK CONTROL .
12 ABS Warning Lamp - refer to ANTI-LOCK CONTROL .
13 Brake Fluid Level Warning-Lamp
