Brake Pedal and Bracket: Removal
CAUTION:
Replacement of nuts and bolts: Various thread-locking devices are used on nuts and bolts throughout the vehicle. These devices restrict the number of times a nut or bolt can be used. See THREAD LOCKING DEVICES
for additional information.
CAUTION:
Remove brake fluid spillage immediately from paint work, with clean water.
- Position vehicle on a four-post lift.
- Open hood and fit suitable paintwork protection equipment.
- Disconnect battery ground cable. (IMPORTANT, see BATTERY GROUND CABLE for further information).
- Remove engine compartment rear cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER .
- Remove pedal housing, brake booster and master cylinder assembly. Refer to BRAKE PEDAL AND BRACKET, BRAKE BOOSTER AND BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER .
- Remove brake booster and master cylinder assembly. Refer to BRAKE BOOSTER AND BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER .
- Remove brake warning-light switch.
- Remove nut and bolt.
- Slide switch forward to release from locating tag.
- Remove throttle pedal assembly.
- Remove and discard retaining wire.
- Remove pivot pins.
- Remove throttle pedal assembly.
- Remove return spring.
- Clean components and mating surfaces.
