Instrument Cluster

The instrument panel major cluster is a separate control module. Inputs from minor cluster (XK8 only), vehicle speed sensor, other control modules and sensors provide information that is relayed to driver in various gauges and warning lights. The odometer/message display relays information in a 2-line, 12-digit Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). See Figure . See ODOMETER/MESSAGE DISPLAY  . Only background illumination lights, turn signal indicator lights and high beam indicator lights are replaceable. All other lights are powered by an LED, and are an integral part of major cluster. All gauges are controlled by stepper motors. The instrument panel major cluster is connected to Controller Area Network (CAN) and Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP) network. Information from instrument cluster is available to other control modules. Instrument cluster is only module which communicates with CAN and SCP network. Instrument panel minor cluster (XK8 only) provides information on oil pressure, battery condition and time. See Figure .
