Water in Fuel Tank - Aperature Drain Blocked - Install Strainer

ISSUE:

The fuel filler aperture drain can become blocked with dirt and debris, causing the area around the filler cap to fill with water.

ACTION:

Beginning with VIN 675552, the aperture drain is protected with a strainer.

This strainer can be installed on pre-VIN 675552 vehicles using the following procedure:

^ Clean all dirt and debris from the fuel filler aperture. Make sure that the drain is not blocked.





^ With the molding split line pointing towards the center of the filler line, push the strainer into the drain tube up to its shoulder, (Fig. 1).
