Fig. 20 Inner Tie Rod & Boot Assembly:

1. Install spring (5) and packing washer (6) if equipped. Fig. 20.
2. Install new tab washers (3) to rack, dished face outermost.
3. Hold one tie rod and tighten the opposite tie rod. Do not restrain rack assembly.
4. Secure tab washers in four places against spanner flats.
5. Grease tie rod areas and replace any lost grease from boots. Each boot should contain two ounces of grease.
6. Install boots and secure with clamps.
