Cranking Signal: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The ECM receives engine cranking indication when the starter solenoid is activated.

OPERATION
To provide starting enrichment, injectors are triggered 3 times per crankshaft revolution. The ECM also calculates any other applicable inputs when calculating injector "ON" time during cranking. Enrichment is canceled at 200 rpm when coolant temperature is at or above 167°F (75°C) and at 500 rpm at lower temperatures.
