Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Cadillac DTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the suspect door latch assembly.
  2. Test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the low reference or ground circuit of the door ajar switch and ground.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, close all doors and verify the scan tool Door Ajar Switch parameter for the suspect door is Door Closed or Inactive.
    • If not the specified value, test the suspect door ajar switch signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace either the driver door module (DDM) or the passenger door module (PDM) or the body control module (BCM)- for the rear doors only.
  4. Install a 3A fused jumper between the suspect door ajar switch signal circuit and the low reference circuit. Verify the scan tool door ajar switch parameter is Door Ajar or Active.
    • If not the specified value, test the suspect door ajar switch signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the suspect door latch assembly.
