Installation Procedure

- Position the timing chain tensioner shoe to the engine.
- Install the timing chain tensioner shoe bolt.
Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Install the cylinder head access hole plug.
Tighten: Tighten the plug to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
- Remove the tee in the timing chain tensioner to regain tension on the timing chain.
- Remove the J 44221 from the camshafts.
- Align the marked links (1) of the timing chain with the timing marks on the following:
- The exhaust camshaft position actuator sprocket
- The Intake camshaft sprocket
- The crankshaft sprocket
- Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement .
- Install the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement .

IMPORTANT:
Every 7th link of the timing chain is darkened to aid in aligning the timing marks.
