Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement (3.7L) .
  2. Remove the timing chain and sprockets. Refer to Timing Chain and Sprockets Replacement .
  3. Remove and discard the cylinder head bolts.

  5. Remove the cylinder head.
  6. Place the cylinder head on a flat, clean surface with the combustion chambers face up, in order to prevent damage to the deck face.

  8. Remove and discard the cylinder head gasket.
  9. Remove all remaining gasket material from the engine block.
  10. Inspect the cylinder head gasket mating surface on the engine block.
  11. Disassemble the cylinder head, if necessary. Refer to Cylinder Head Disassemble .
