Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Isuzu i-370, 2007 GMC Canyon, and 2007 Chevrolet Colorado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install the intake camshaft sprocket into the timing chain.

    Aligning the marked link (1) on the timing chain with the timing mark on the intake camshaft sprocket.

  2. IMPORTANT:
    • To aid in aligning the sprocket to the camshaft, use a 25 mm (1 in) wrench on the hex of the camshaft to rotate.
    • Ensure the alignment pin is properly engaged with the camshaft.
  3. Install the intake camshaft sprocket onto the intake camshaft.
  4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  5. Install the new intake camshaft sprocket bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 20 N.m (15 lb ft) plus an additional 100 degrees using the J 45059  .

  7. Remove the J 44217  (1) and J-44217-45  (1).

  9. Remove the J 44221  from the camshafts.
  10. Install the intake CMP sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Intake .
  11. Install the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement .
