Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  2. Remove the ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the following electrical connectors from the camshaft cover.
    • The fuel injector (1)
    • The heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) (2)
    • The engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor (3)

  5. Remove the camshaft cover ground wire bolt (1) from the cover.
  6. Remove the ground wire from the cover.

  8. Remove the camshaft cover bolts.
  9. Remove the camshaft cover from the cylinder head.
  10. Remove and discard the seals from the camshaft cover. Do not reuse the seals.
  11. Clean and inspect the cylinder head sealing surface.
