Circuit/System Testing

IMPORTANT: When removing connectors inspect for damage or corrosion. Damage or corrosion in the following requires repair or replacement of the affected component/connector.
  • The IPC
  • Seat belt switch
  • Seat belt switch harness connector
  • SDM
  • SDM harness connector
  1. Observe the Passenger Air Bag ON/OFF status indicator. Turn ON the ignition, both ON and OFF indicators should turn ON for 5 seconds.
  2. Ignition OFF, disconnect the instrument panel inflatable restraint module indicator connector. Connect a test lamp between the passenger seat belt indicator control circuit terminal 5 and B+.
  3. Ignition ON, using the scan tool, perform the display test special function in instrument panel cluster. The test lamp should illuminate.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit of the indicator for high resistance/open, short to ground, or short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the IPC.
  4. Test or replace the instrument panel inflatable restraint module indicator.
