Circuit/System Testing

IMPORTANT: When removing connectors inspect for damage or corrosion. Damage or corrosion in the following requires repair or replacement of the affected component/connector.
  • The IPC
  • Left seat belt switch
  • Left seat belt switch harness connector
  • SDM
  • SDM harness connector
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the seat belt switch - left.
  2. Ignition ON, using a scan tool, verify the Driver Seat Belt Switch parameter in Supplemental Inflatable Restraints is Buckled.
    • If the parameter is Unbuckled, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal replace the SDM.
  3. Install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and the low reference circuit terminal B. Verify the scan tool Driver Seat Belt Switch parameter is Unbuckled.
    • Install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and the low reference circuit terminal B. Verify the scan tool Driver Seat Belt Switch parameter is Unbuckled.
  4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the applicable seat belt switch - left.
