Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement

Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement

Callout Component Name
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
Fastener Tightening Specifications:  Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the knee bolster panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector for the brake pedal position sensor.
1 Accelerator Pedal Assembly Nut (Qty: 2)

Tighten:  10 N.m (89 lb in)

2 Accelerator Pedal
Tip:  Relocate accelerator pedal to the side.
3 Brake Pedal Pushrod Retainer Clip
4 Spacer
5 Brake Pedal Assembly Nut (Qty: 4)

Procedure 

Without disconnecting the intermediate shaft, lower the steering column to gain access to the nuts for the brake pedal mounting bracket. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .

Tighten

  • Vacuum Brake Booster: 30 N.m (22 lb ft)
  • Hydraulic Brake Booster 36 N.m (27 lb ft)
6 Brake Pedal

Procedure 


After the installation is complete, calibrate the brake pedal position sensor.
Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration .
