Sunroof Motor/Actuator Synchronization

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Cadillac DTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: The sunroof motor/actuator is timed at the factory. If there is battery voltage applied to a new motor, or if the motor is removed and the sunroof glass is moved to a different position, the pre-timed settings within the sunroof motor/actuator are lost.
A motor should not be installed into the sunroof until the following conditions are satisfied:
  1. The sunroof window is in a full closed position. Refer to Sunroof Track Timing/Synchronization .
  2. Connect all electronic connections (sunroof control unit, motor, sunroof switch, body harness) without installing the motor into the sunroof track.
  3. Press up on the sunroof switch, override position, and hold until the motor stops motion. This is the pre-timed factory position.
  4. Install the pre-timed factory position motor into synchronized sunroof track. Refer to Sunroof Motor/Actuator Replacement .
  5. Verify operation at all positions.
