Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Cadillac DTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  3. Install the strut to the vehicle.
    NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  4. Install the upper strut mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the upper strut mounting bolts to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).

  5. Raise the vehicle.

  7. Install new strut to steering knuckle bolts and nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the strut to steering knuckle bolts and nuts to 177 N.m (131 lb ft).

  9. Install the brake line bracket and mounting bolt to the strut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts and nuts to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).

  10. Install the wheel speed sensor bracket and mounting bolt to strut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  11. Install the wheel speed sensor bracket to strut.
  12. Install the wheel speed sensor wiring harness to the bracket.
  13. Install the wheel and tire. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  14. Lower the vehicle.
