Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Cadillac DTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT:
  • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
  • Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the front compartment sight shield. Refer to Front Compartment Sight Shields Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connectors from the starter solenoid cable electrical connectors.

  5. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  6. Disengage the junction block cover lock tabs.
  7. Remove the junction block cover.

  9. Remove the nut (1) securing the starter solenoid cable to the bussed electrical center (BEC).
  10. Remove the starter solenoid cable from the BEC stud.

  12. Remove the "BAT" terminal nut (1) from the starter.
  13. Remove the "S" terminal nut (2) from the starter.
  14. Remove the starter solenoid cable from the starter.

  16. Reposition the starter solenoid cable protective boot (1) at the generator.
  17. Remove the generator terminal nut (2).
  18. Remove the starter solenoid cable terminal (3) from the generator.

  20. Remove the starter solenoid cable clips (1) from the left camshaft cover.
  21. Remove the starter solenoid cable.
