Shift Indicator - A/T: Description and Operation
Circuit OperationWith the starter switch in ON OR START battery voltage is applied to the automatic transmission mode switch through the CB-14 BACK UP/TURN LIGHT fuse. The automatic transmission mode switch sends a signal to the powertrain control module (PCM) and the multiplexed indicator control unit corresponding to the gear selected. The multi-plexed indicator control unit applies voltage to the appropriate A/T shift indicator light in the meter assembly, causing it to come on.
With the starter switch in ON OR START battery voltage is applied to the neutral start switch through the CB-14 BACK UP/TURN LIGHT fuse. The neutral start switch sends a signal to the transmission control module (TCM), and the meter assembly corresponding to the gear selected. In the P and N positions a signal is also sent to the transfer control unit. In the R position voltage is applied to the back up lights.
