Vacuum Booster Push Rod

NOTE: This procedure was only provided by manufacturer for year 2002. No information was available for years 2003-04.
  1. Remove the vacuum booster. See VACUUM BOOSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Remove retainer from vacuum booster front shell using a small screwdriver. Then gently draw plate and seal assembly out of the shell inside.
  3. Set Push Rod Gauge (J-39216) on vacuum booster and apply negative pressure by means of Vacuum Pump (J-23738-A) so that the pressure in the vacuum booster becomes 500 mm Hg. See Fig 1. Be sure to apply negative pressure after installing a push rod gauge on the vacuum booster.
  4. Check if dimension is -0.0039 to 0.0039" (-0.1 to 0.1 mm). See Fig 2. If dimension is out of range, adjust push rod using the Push Rod Support (J-39241). See Fig 3.
  5. Mount plate and seal assembly in vacuum booster front shell. Then install retainer. Install the vacuum booster components. See VACUUM BOOSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
