Diagnostic Procedure
- Observe AIR BAG warning light when turning ignition on. If AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times, go to next step. If AIR BAG warning light does not flash 7 times, go to step 3.
- If AIR BAG warning light turns off after flashing 7 times, go to step 4. If light stays on, go to step 5.
- If AIR BAG warning light comes on steady when ignition is turned on, go to AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON STEADY . If AIR BAG warning light does not come on steady, go to AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON STEADY .
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Request SRS DTC display and record all history DTC's. Turn ignition off. If DTC 71 is displayed as a history DTC, see DTC 71: INTERNAL SDM FAULT . For all other history DTC's, refer to diagnostic aids for specific displayed DTC. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC) table. A history DTC indicates malfunction has been repaired or is intermittent. If no DTC's are displayed, SRS is functional and free of malfunctions. No further diagnosis is required.
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Request SRS DTC display and record all history DTC's. Turn ignition off. If DTC's 19, 25, 51 or 53 are set, refer to diagnostic aids for specific displayed DTC. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC) table. Diagnose remaining current DTC's in order from lowest to highest. If only history DTC's exist, refer to diagnostic aids for specific DTC. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC) table. A history DTC indicates malfunction has been repaired or is intermittent.

| 71 | Internal SDM fault |
