Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Turn ignition off. Reconnect all SRS components and ensure all components are properly mounted. Ensure ignition has been off for 15 seconds. Turn ignition on and note AIR BAG warning light. If light flashes 7 times and goes off, symptom or DTC is no longer occurring. Using scan tool, clear SRS DTC's. Go to SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK . If AIR BAG warning light does not flash 7 times and go off, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, request SRS DTC display. If same symptom or DTC occurs as when SRS diagnostic system check was first performed, turn ignition off and refer to diagnostic procedure for appropriate symptom or DTC. If same symptom or DTC does not occur, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, clear DTC's. Turn ignition off for 2 minutes. Observe AIR BAG warning light as ignition is turned on. If light flashes 7 times and goes off, SRS is functioning normally. No diagnosis is required. Go to next step. If light does not flash 7 times and go off, turn ignition off. Replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Reconnect all SRS components. Ensure all components are properly mounted. Go to SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
