Diagnostic Procedure
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Request SRS DTC display. If scan tool indicates NO DATA RECEIVED, go to next step. If scan tool indicates DATA RECEIVED, go to step 3.
- Turn ignition off. Inspect SDM harness connection to SDM. See Figure. If connector is secure, turn ignition off. Replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step 5. If connector is not secure, connect securely to deactivate shorting clip in SDM harness connector. Go to step 5.
- Using scan tool, request SRS DATA LIST. If ignition voltage is greater than 9 volts, go to next step. If ignition voltage is less than 9 volts, turn ignition off. Replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step 5.NOTE: Use Digital Multimeter (J-39200) and Terminal Adapter Kit (J-35616-A) when performing electrical tests.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect driver-side and passenger-side air bag connectors, located at base of steering column and behind glove box assembly. Disconnect SDM. Measure resistance between SDM connector, terminal No. 6 (Black wire) and ground. See Figure. If resistance is less than infinite, replace SRS harness and go to next step. If resistance is infinite, go to SDM INTEGRITY CHECK .
- Reconnect all SRS components. Ensure all components are properly mounted. Go to SRS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
