Excessive Pedal Effort

Check for malfunctioning vacuum booster. Check vacuum booster operation and repair as necessary.
Check for partial system failure. Check front and rear brake system for failure and repair as necessary. Check brake warning light for failed system indication.
Check for excessively worn pad. Check and replace pads in set as necessary.
Check for stuck or sluggish piston in caliper. Remove caliper and rebuild as necessary.
Check for fading brakes due to incorrect pad. Remove and replace with original equipment pad or equivalent as necessary.
Check for vacuum leak to vacuum booster. Check for ruptured or loose hose.
Check direction of check valve within vacuum hose. Correct vacuum hose direction as necessary.
Check for grease on brake pads. Replace or clean as necessary.
