Parking Brake Rear Cable (4WD Model): Installation

1. Apply grease (BESCO L-2 or equivalent) to the connecting portion of the rear cable and equalizer. Install rear cable. See Figure. Install retainer and nut (13). Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
2. Install nut (12) and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install bolts (9, 10 and 11) and tighten to specification. To adjust the parking brake, see REAR DISC PARKING BRAKE  under ADJUSTMENTS.
3. Install cable fixing bolt (8) and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
4. Install shoe assembly. After installation of the shoe and cable assembly, apply special grease (included in the repair kit) to the portions indicated in the figure. See Fig 1.
5. Install lower return spring and upper return spring. The parking brake lever side (secondary side) return spring must be installed on the outer side of the primary side return spring. See Fig 2.
6. Install holding spring. See Figure. Install rotor (drum). Install caliper assembly. See REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER . Install rear wheels (1).
