Front Disc Brake Pads: Removal

  1. Draw out two-thirds of the brake fluid from the reservoir. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheels.
  2. Remove the pin bolt. See Figure. Rotate caliper assembly and support the caliper assembly so that the brake house is not stretched or damaged. Mark pad locations if reusing. Remove pad assembly with shim. Remove clip. Replace brake pads if lining thickness is less than 0.039" (1.0 mm).
