Tachometer Reading Fluctuates Or Tachometer Reading Jumps Erratically

  1. Check tachometer for proper operation. See TACHOMETER INOPERATIVE  . If waveform is okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If waveform is not okay, go to next step.
  2. Check for poor connections, or open or short circuits in Black/Red wire between instrument cluster connector I-9 terminal No. 9 and PCM connector C-2 terminal C10. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is okay, replace PCM. Recheck system operation.
