When Transfer Lever Is Shifted From 4L To Tod, 4L Mode Remains On & Tod Mode Is Displayed
- Turn ignition on. Backprobe ECU connector and measure voltage between ECU connector terminals No. 8 and 19 with transfer lever in high position. If 5 volts are present, go to next step. If 5 volts are not present, go to step 4 .
- Backprobe ECU connector and measure voltage between ECU connector terminals No. 8 and 19 with transfer lever in 4L position. If 5 volts are present, go to next step. If 5 volts are not present, go to step 4 .
- Backprobe ECU connector and measure voltage between ECU connector terminals No. 8 and 19 with transfer lever in neutral position. If no voltage is present, replace ECU. Go to next step. If voltage is present, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECU connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ECU connector terminals No. 8 and 12 with transfer lever in high position. If 12 volts are present, go to next step. If 12 volts are not present, go to step 7 .
- Measure voltage between ECU connector terminals No. 8 and 19 with transfer lever in neutral position. If no voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is present, go to step 7 .
- Measure voltage between ECU connector terminals No. 8 and 19 with transfer lever in 4L position. If 12 volts are present, repair short in Green/Red wire between 4H switch and ECU. Go to step 14 . If 12 volts are not present, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Check for continuity between ECU connector terminals No. 8 and 19 with transfer lever in neutral position. If continuity exists, go to next step. If no continuity exists, go to step 10 .
- Check for continuity between ECU connector terminals No. 8 and 19 with transfer lever in high position. If continuity exists, go to step 10 . If no continuity exists, go to next step.
- Check for continuity between ECU connector terminals No. 8 and 19 with transfer lever in 4L position. If continuity exists, go to step 14 . If no continuity exists, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS . Go to next step.
- Backprobe 12-pin M27 connector for continuity between terminals No. 4 and 7 with transfer lever in neutral position. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity exists, go to next step. If no continuity exists, repair short to ground in 4H switch or M27 harness connector.
- Backprobe 12-pin M27 connector for continuity between terminals No. 4 and 7 with transfer lever in high position. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If no continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in 4H switch or M27 harness connector.
- Backprobe between 12-pin M27 connector terminal No. 4 and 18-pin B49 connector terminal No. 3, with transfer lever in 4L position. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If no continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Green/Red. Go to step 14 .
- Backprobe 12-pin M27 connector for continuity between body ground and terminal No. 4. If continuity exists, replace ECU. Go to next step. If no continuity exists, repair circuit between M27 terminal No. 4 and ground. Go to next step.
- Ensure all mechanical and electrical components are mounted correctly. If all components are mounted correctly, test is complete. Recheck system operation. If any components are not mounted correctly, repair or replace as needed. Repeat drive test and see if symptom is repeated.
