Check Light Is On When Transfer Lever Is Shifted From 2H To Tod

  1. Turn ignition on. Backprobe ECU connector and measure voltage between ECU connector terminals No. 12 and 19 with 4WD switch in 4WD position. If no voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is present, repair Brown/White wire between 4WD switch and ECU. Go to step  7 .
  2. Backprobe ECU connector and measure voltage between ECU connector terminals No. 12 and 19 with 4WD switch in 2WD position. If 12 volts are present, go to next step. If 12 volts are not present, repair Brown/White wire between 4WD switch and ECU. Go to step  7 .
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECU connector. Check for continuity between ECU connector terminals No. 1 and 25. If continuity exists, go to next step. If no continuity exists, replace TOD indicator bulb. Go to step  7 .
  4. Check for continuity between ECU connector terminals No. 1 and 26. If continuity exists, go to next step. If no continuity exists, replace TOD indicator bulb. Go to step 7)  .
  5. Check for continuity between ECU connector terminals No. 1 and 27. If continuity exists, go to next step. If no continuity exists, replace TOD indicator bulb. Go to step  7 .
  6. Check for continuity between ECU connector terminals No. 1 and 28. If continuity exists, replace ECU. Go to next step. If no continuity exists, replace TOD indicator bulb. Go to next step.
  7. Ensure all mechanical and electrical components are mounted correctly. If all components are mounted correctly, test is complete. Recheck system operation. If any components are not mounted correctly, repair or replace as needed. Repeat drive test and see if symptom is repeated.
