DTC 25 & 35: Check Light Is Shorted To Power Or To Ground

  1. Turn ignition on. If CHECK light is always on, go to next step. If CHECK light is not always on, go to step  3 .
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECU connector. Turn ignition on. If CHECK light is always on, CHECK light circuit is shorted to ground. Repair circuit. Go to step  7 . If CHECK light is not always on, replace ECU. Go to step  7 .
  3. Turn ignition on. If CHECK light is always on, go to next step. If CHECK light is not always on, go to step  6 .
  4. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ECU connector terminals No. 30 and 19. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, CHECK light circuit wires are broken, or bulb is blown. Repair as needed. Go to step  7 .
  5. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ECU connector terminals No. 30 and 19. If battery voltage is present, battery is shorted. Repair CHECK light circuit. Go to step  7 . If battery voltage is not present, replace ECU. Go to step  7 .
  6. Turn ignition on. If CHECK light goes off after 2 seconds, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS  . If CHECK light does not go off after 2 seconds, go to next step.
  7. Ensure all mechanical and electrical components are mounted correctly. Clear DTC. If all components are mounted correctly, test is complete. Recheck system operation. If any components are not mounted correctly, repair or replace as needed. Repeat drive test and see if symptom is repeated.
