Removal (Hombre)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Shift transmission into 3rd or 4th gear. Remove shift lever and housing. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Drain transmission oil. Disconnect parking brake cable and position aside. Mark drive shaft for installation reference. Remove drive shaft. Disconnect wire harnesses from speed sensor and back-up light switch.
  3. Detach wire harness from right side of transmission and position aside. Separate muffler from catalytic converter. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold. Remove catalytic converter and exhaust pipe.
  4. Remove left and right side transmission-to-engine braces. Disconnect clutch release cylinder hydraulic line quick coupler. Remove clutch housing cover.
  5. Detach fuel lines and wire harness from rear crossmember. Support transmission with jack. Remove rear crossmember. Remove transmission-to-engine bolts. Slide transmission rearward and remove from vehicle.
  6. Mark pressure plate and flywheel for installation reference. Support clutch assembly with clutch aligner. Remove pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts evenly in a diagonal pattern. Remove clutch assembly.
