Speedometer Reading Fluctuates Or Speedometer Reading Jumps Erratically

  1. Check VSS for proper operation. See VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR (VSS) under COMPONENT TESTING. If VSS is okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If VSS is not okay, go to next step.
  2. Repair poor connections or open in Light Green/White wire between instrument cluster connector I-10 terminal No. 5 and VSS connector terminal No. 3. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
