Oil Pressure Gauge Reading Is Too Low

  1. If low oil pressure indicator is also on with engine running, check for possible mechanical failure. If low oil pressure indicator is not on, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect oil pressure sender unit. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and oil pressure sending unit (Light Blue wire at sender unit, to Yellow/Green to Yellow/Black wire at instrument panel). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If oil pressure gauge reading varies, replace oil pressure sender unit. If oil pressure gauge readings do not vary, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect instrument panel connector I-10. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and instrument panel connector I-10 cavity terminal No. 19. See Figure . If oil pressure gauge reading varies, go to next step. If oil pressure gauge readings do not vary, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Repair open in Light Blue wire at sender unit, to Yellow/Green to Yellow/Black wire at instrument panel. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
