Driver's Door Does Not Lock: Hombre

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Display current Body Control Module (BCM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If DTCs are displayed, go to appropriate DTC diagnostic and repair procedure. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULE article. If no DTCs are present, go to next step.
  2. Remove driver's side door lock/power window switch. See DOOR LOCK SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect a jumper wire between door lock/power window switch connector terminals "D" (Orange wire) and "C" (Light Blue wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If driver's door locks, go to next step. If driver's door does not lock, go to step 4).
  3. Replace driver's door lock/power window switch. See DOOR LOCK SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
  4. Disconnect BCM. Connect a fused jumper wire between battery voltage and body bussed electrical center terminal A9 (Light Blue wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If driver's door locks, go to next step. If driver's door does not lock, go to step 6).
  5. Reconnect BCM. Repair open in Light Blue wire between driver's door lock/power window switch and body bussed electrical center. Recheck system operation.
  6. Reconnect BCM. Connect test light between ground and driver's door unlock actuator connector terminal "B" (Gray wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Cycle driver's door lock/power window switch to lock position. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 8).
  7. Disconnect driver's door unlock actuator connector. Connect test light between connector terminals "A" (Tan wire) and "B" (Gray wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Cycle driver's door lock/power window switch to lock and unlock positions. If test light comes on, go to step 9). If test light does not come on, go to step 10).
  8. Repair open in Gray wire between driver's door unlock actuator and body bussed electrical center. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
  9. Replace driver's door unlock actuator. See DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
  10. Repair open in Tan wire between driver's door unlock actuator and body bussed electrical center. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
