Horns Inoperative: Hombre

  1. Check HORN fuse (15-amp) located in Underhood Bussed Electrical Center (UBEC). If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step 3).
  2. Repair short to ground in Dark Green wire between UBEC and horns or a shorted horn. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. Remove horn relay from UBEC. Connect test light between ground and horn relay cavity terminal No. 2. Connect test light between ground and horn relay cavity terminal No. 3. If test light comes on in both positions, go to step 5). If test light does not come on in both positions, go to next step.
  4. Replace Underhood Bussed Electrical Center (UBEC). After replacement, recheck system operation.
  5. Connect test light between horn relay cavity terminals No. 1 and 2. Depress horn button. If test light comes on, go to step 9). If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  6. Connect self-powered test light between ground and horn switch side of steering column connector (C211) terminal A11 (Black wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Depress horn button. If test light comes on, go to step 8). If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  7. Replace horn switch. See HORN SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.
  8. Repair open Black wire between UBEC and steering column connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  9. Connect a fused jumper wire between horn relay cavity terminals No. 3 and 5. If horns do not sound, go to step 11). If horns sound, go to next step.
  10. Replace horn relay. Recheck system operation.
  11. Disconnect both horn connectors. Connect a fused jumper between horn relay cavity terminals No. 3 and 5. Connect test light between ground and connector terminal "B" (Dark Green wire) of each horn. If test light comes on, go to step 13). If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  12. Repair open Dark Green wire between horn relay cavity and horn. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  13. Connect self-powered test light between ground and connector terminal "B" (Black wire) of each horn. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 15).
  14. Replace both horns. See HORNS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
  15. Repair horn grounds. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
