Removal & Installation (Amigo, Rodeo & Trooper)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Ensure front wheels are pointed straight ahead and ignition switch is in LOCK position. Remove SRS module and steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL . Disconnect Yellow SRS connector under steering column.
  2. Remove knee bolster and steering column shrouds. See Figure. On Trooper, also remove center console. Remove combination switch. Disconnect shift lock cable (if equipped). Disconnect ignition switch wiring connectors located behind lower instrument panel. Remove tie-straps retaining harness to column.
  3. Remove combination switch. See COMBINATION SWITCH . Remove snap ring and cushion rubber steering shaft. Remove bolts attaching lock cylinder assembly. Disconnect ignition switch connector and remove lock cylinder from steering column.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
