Inspection (Amigo (2WD) & Rodeo (2WD)

  1. Inspect brake shoes for distortion, looseness, nicks or oil-soaked linings. Check for leaking wheel cylinders. Minimum rear brake lining thickness is .039" (1.0 mm). On Amigo and Rodeo 2.6L, check for weak or broken shoe return springs. Repair or replace as required.
  2. On Amigo, use spring scale and spring compression tester to check springs for proper tension, free length and set length. See BRAKE SPRING TENSION table. Replace springs if rusted or weak.
