Load Sensing Proportioning Valve (LSPV)
NOTE:
Before adjusting load sensing proportioning valve, ensure suspension is not modified. If vehicle was involved in an accident, check frame (rear beam, floor, etc.) for damage. If frame was straightened, ensure it was restored to its original dimensions before measuring dimension "L". See Fig 1
.
- Always measure and adjust dimension "L" if any component that affects vehicle height (rear lower or upper arm, rear damper, rear coil spring or rear stabilizer), or LSPV was replace or removed and reinstalled.
- Before measuring, ensure vehicle is unloaded (except spare tire and tools), unoccupied, brakes are not applied, you check and record fuel level and note vehicle trim level.
- Insert a 5.0-5.3-mm straight pin into 5-mm hole in LSPV arm. See Fig 1 . While pulling lever toward spring, measure between outer surface of pin and outer surface of 8-mm adjusting bolt. Use nut-side of adjusting bolt and keep calipers parallel of spring. See Fig 1 . If measurement is outside specification, loosen 8-mm flange nut and adjust spring's dimension "L" according to table. See Fig 1 .
- If vehicle is equipped with a trailer hitch, add 3 mm to dimension "L" before compensating for fuel level. If fuel level of vehicle is not at FULL, compensate dimension "L" according to fuel level. After adjustment, test-drive vehicle to check for proper brake system operation.
